Lucky Bamboo
Dracaena sanderiana is a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae, native to Central Africa. It was named after the German–English gardener Henry Frederick Conrad Sander (1847–1920). Keeping lucky bamboo inside houses and business places is believed to bring happiness and prosperity, and this belief has promoted sales of lucky bamboo shoots grown in decorative pots.The plant has become the most popular indoor plant in certain parts of India, where the plants are usually imported from China and Taiwan.
Description
Dracaena fragrans is a slow growing shrub, mature specimens reaching 10m. Stems may reach up to 30 cm diameter on old plants; in forest habitats they may become horizontal with erect side branches.
The leaves are glossy green, lanceolate, 20–150 cm long and 2–12 cm wide; small leaves are erect to spreading, and larger leaves usually drooping under their weight. they are highly fragrant. The fruit is an orange-red berry 1–2 cm diameter, containing several seeds.
